Galway Debating
In June and August of 2022, the students at Hume Anglican Grammar participated in Galway Debating. This provides students a valuable opportunity to engage in rigorous academic discussion with like schools.
On 2 August 2022 Hume Anglican Grammar went to Sacred Heart College in Kyneton to participate in the final round of the Galway Debating competition 2022. Six teams represented Hume Anglican Grammar, and 5 of those teams came back victorious. All teams tried their very best and put great effort into this event. Through the support and guidance of our teachers, Ms Kendall, Ms Hayek and Ms Stirrup, and our fellow Hume debaters, we were led to victory. The highlight of our day and certainly the most challenging event was the surprise debate. Our teams were given just an hour to prepare a speech on a topic that we’d never seen before, and it was a great experience. At the end of the day, we gathered in the theatre of Sacred Heart College and were stunned and delighted as Hume Anglican Grammar’s name kept being announced as the winners. We won the Junior, Intermediate and Senior competitions. All in all, we had a fantastic day and cannot wait to do it again next year. - Joshua, Anvi and Anureet (Year 7)
