In Performing Arts classes at Kalkallo this term, students have been working hard on rehearsing for the Primary school production of ' Disney’s The Lion King Jr'. One of the skills focussed on throughout rehearsals was learning movement patterns to depict character or story, in our case we were creating the longer flowing grass of the pride lands.

Another of the skills that students were able to develop was using their voices to repeat pitch patterns and sing their production song 'Circle of life'. Students learned how to repeat these melody patterns while integrating rhythmic ideas at the same time. Finally, they were able to discuss important aspects of performing on stage including remaining focussed and working as a team to create an entertaining theatrical experience for parents and friends in the audience.
