Lion King Jr Costumes
As we are currently coming down from the highs of our Primary Production, we can now reflect on all the hard work that took place from staff, students, and our parent community to pull everything together on performance nights. Students, I would have no doubt, felt a sense of achievement from performing in front of a live audience, many for the first time.
There are so many aspects to a Production, one of which is costumes. This year the costumes team gave the students the opportunity to participate in the design or creation of their own outfits. This gave our students a sense of purpose and it linked in nicely with our Visual and Performing Arts programs.
We had Year 1 students paint black stripes for zebras. Years 3 and 4 students used sponges to dab on gold, bronze, brown and metallic paint onto their black clothing, representing hyenas and wildebeests. Year 2 students had the exciting opportunity to participate in a tie-dye workshop to create a pattern for their lion outfits. Prep students assisted in painting cardboard cutout hearts, which were used as a prop for their class item. Years 5 and 6 students were thrilled to have the chance at designing their own costumes, sewing on fabric and creating a headpiece for their mystical creatures of the savannah.
These costumes, together with the set design, lighting, stage layout and of course the efforts of our amazing students combined for a brilliant spectacle.
