I am confident to say, throughout my 8+ years at Hume Anglican Grammar, this is easily the busiest time in terms of construction projects at our School. As I write this, we have four major development projects underway across both campuses, each at a different stage of development (and recently completed a sizeable venture last year).

At Donnybrook, having just completed the $4.1 million Year 1/2 Centre in 2020, initial ground preparation has commenced for Stage 4: The Year 5/6 Centre, synthetic soccer pitch, nature playground and covered area - a project totalling $6.25 million. In order to allow for current students to have access as soon as possible, we have placed a priority on the soccer pitch to open in Spring. Planning for Stage 5, our $5.0 million Arts Centre is well underway, and we are looking forward to this new development, constructed next year to open in 2023.

At Mt Ridley, the $3.25 million STEM Centre is in its final phase of construction and we are well on target to commence classes from the beginning of Term 3. It has been wonderful to see its final form and we are getting a great feel for how it will enhance the campus. Of course, the one building that has a real presence is the $6.0 million Sports Centre. With the framing now in place, we can see this will be a substantial structure, providing a contemporary space for sports, health and physical education programs.

A quick calculation will show expenditure of over $20 million on four major projects at Hume Anglican Grammar across 2021-22. Also, worthy to note that of this amount, a sum of $7.5 million has come in three separate grants from both the State and Commonwealth governments. Something we are fortunate and grateful to have. This is a great testament to the success of our school, and a wonderful reflection of our desire to create the best learning environment possible for our young people. It demonstrates that we are continuing to establish ourselves as a vibrant, progressive and thriving educational institution. We are moving forever forward in achieving a key goal to be the school of choice providing a relevant, progressive and a prized education, and valued for its contribution to the wider community.
