Hume Anglican Grammar was proud to officially commence construction of our brand new Year 5/6 Centre located at our Donnybrook Campus through its formal ‘Sod-turning Ceremony’ on Thursday, 22 April 2021.
State Member for Yan Yean, Ms Danielle Green MP was on-hand to assist with proceedings and provide a formal address.
At a total value of $6.5million and with State Government funding contributions of $5million, the Year 5/6 Centre will serve as the core learning area for the leaders of the Primary school, providing them with the perfect environment to transition into Secondary education. The development will consist of 6 general purpose classrooms, a Thinking-Cloud Room, Kitchenette, Independent Learning Spaces along with an adjoining all-weather, artificial turf Soccer Pitch and Nature Playground.
This project marks the fourth stage of development at our Donnybrook Campus which opened in 2019 and was included in the School’s initial Masterplan upon its foundation. Each year will see further stages constructed as we move toward a fully established Prep to Year 12 community in 2028. The addition of each new stage further enhances our School’s ability to provide families with an affordable private education option within the fast-growing outer northern suburbs of Melbourne.
“In reflecting on the symbolism of breaking ground, I like to think about the message this ceremony sends about the ground-breaking nature of our school. At Hume Anglican Grammar we wish to grow. We wish to explore and expand opportunities for others, we want to encourage others to lead and serve, and most importantly we wish for all our young people to develop all these admirable talents of a trailblazer.” states Principal, Mr Bill Sweeney.
The Year 5/6 Centre development is due for completion by the end of 2021.
