On Tuesday, 15 August 2023 Hume Anglican Grammar celebrated a momentous occasion with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of its newest building, the Prep - Year 2 Learning Neighbourhood, at its Kalkallo campus.
The morning began with a traditional Smoking Ceremony conducted by Wurundjeri Man, Thane Garvey. The ceremony involved the burning of eucalyptus leaves to cleanse the area and provide protection for the new building, followed by a blessing of the building itself. The ribbon was then cut, officially opening the new building.
Parents were then invited to tour the building and were excited to see the impressive new development. The building comprises both the Prep and Year 1 and 2 Learning Neighbourhoods, as well as ancillary spaces. Staff and students have settled in well to their new home that opened its doors on the first day of Term 3. We are thrilled to have this new facility for our youngest learners, and the Prep - Year 2 Learning Neighbourhood is already proving to be an excellent space for our Kalkallo community.
The spacious and modern design of the Prep - Year 2 Learning Neighbourhood is sure to inspire and motivate the students who will learn and grow within its walls. The School is committed to providing the best possible educational environment for its students, and this new building is an excellent example of that commitment.
