Each year on 22 May, we celebrate Founders’ Day, an opportunity to mark the anniversary of the commencement of Hume Anglican Grammar as a school. As this day fell on a Saturday in 2021, we celebrated Founders’ Day on Friday, 21 May. Students participated in learning engagements, including writing about how we are all welcome at our school, rock painting for our campus path, Bollywood Dancing, sports rotations and a much-enjoyed visit to the local Gumnut Park. Our assembly celebrated how far the School has come since it first opened, with Miss Mitchell speaking about her 10 years at Hume and Year 5 student, Darcy McGrath speaking about his experiences.
In the short history of our Donnybrook Campus, we have gone from 1 building, 140 students and 6 classes to, 3 buildings, 379 students and 14 classes. Within 3 years! Much was celebrated at the assembly along with sharing images of our journey so far.
As part of this annual celebration, the School acknowledges two students from the Mt Ridley Campus (Primary and Secondary), and one student from the Donnybrook Campus (Primary) as recipients of the Parents and Friends Association (PFA) Citizenship Award. The award is presented in accordance with the values of service and giving and recognises students who display these values in their daily life.
PFA President, Lauren Falkiner, presented the 2021 Citizenship Award to Sukhmanjeet Kaur (5Y). Sukhmanjeet joined us in Year 3 (2019) as a foundation student of our Donnybrook campus. She consistently demonstrates kindness, respect, resilience and leadership qualities and is a very caring individual to all her peers. Sukmanjeet always has a smile on her face and learns with enthusiasm. She takes on responsibilities and offers her assistance to peers and teachers. Congratulations Sukmanjeet!
It is always wonderful to celebrate all that makes our school special and we look forward to many more celebrations in the coming years.
