Early this term, Year 12 students attended a VCE Retreat at PGL Campaspe Downs Adventure Camp. The camp provided the ideal setting for students to build and strengthen relationships with each other and their Homeroom teachers. Across the three days, students engaged in a variety of activities and workshops while they were encouraged to work as a team, step out of their comfort zone, support each other, try new endeavours and set lofty goals for the year ahead.
They participated in recreational activities such as flying fox, giant swing and canoeing on the lake. They undertook problem-solving and teamwork as they worked through a range of unique team challenges. VCE coordinator, Ms Alexa Black ran a VCE information session complimented by an academic workshop run by the Director of Teaching and Learning, Ms Kathryn Wilson. Our School Counsellor, Mr Tim Battersby, ran a mental health and wellbeing session where students tried some self-calming strategies and techniques. We even had some lovely visits from the Assistant Principal - Secondary, Ms Penelope Monger and Head of Curriculum - Secondary, Mrs Jennifer Johnstone who both came to spend a day with the Year 12 students.
It was a very busy, full three days and the students were engaged, interested and participated admirably in all sessions. Well done Year 12s for a great, positive start to your final year of Secondary school!
