As we emerge yet again from another lockdown period in Melbourne, we should remind ourselves how lucky we are to have the support structures in place to successfully navigate the challenges created by the recent restrictions.
Already, in my role as Assistant Principal - Secondary, I have seen numerous examples of our community coming together to meet the challenges of these times. Our students, yet again, embraced their remote learning program with resilience and tenacity. Likewise, the teaching staff, displayed total commitment whilst working in difficult circumstances to ensure the needs of the students were met.
When the students returned to onsite learning on Friday, 4 June, they quickly settled back into ‘covid-normal’ school life and re connected once again. Year 7 to 11 students are to be congratulated on their participation and commitment in the end of Semester exams and our Year 12 students have shown resounding perseverance and dogged determination through the unknown and postponement of the GAT. The well-known quote from Vince Lombardi; 'winners never quit, and quitters never win', truly encapsulates our Year 12 students; they are all ‘winners’ in our eyes.
There is little doubt that this period of time has yet again been extremely challenging. As we continue to support our students, our focus remains on their safety and wellbeing. Parents and students are encouraged to reach out to our Wellbeing team, Year Level Coordinators and subject teachers for support and advice during this time.
We all know that the past few weeks have brought uncertainty and apprehension. Humans, by their very nature, are social beings. We hope that you take the opportunity to reconnect with family and friends during the term break and return to school ready to tackle the challenges ahead. One thing I know for certain, is that together we can overcome any obstacle.
Best wishes for a relaxing and rejuvenating break.
