One of the School’s six values is ‘safety’ and we are deeply committed to providing a safe environment for all students and community members. Further, the School relies on all community members to take responsibility for the care and protection of others.
With growing student numbers at both Mt Ridley and Donnybrook, the carparks are becoming busier. It is therefore extremely important that each of our families follows the School’s traffic and carpark rules.
Unfortunately, in recent times I and my colleagues have witnessed some inappropriate behaviours in the car park that are putting other users at significant risk. These behaviours include parents failing to use the pedestrian crossing and encouraging their children to similarly bypass the crossing; parents exiting their vehicle in the wait zone and preventing other cars from passing; and aggression from some drivers to others.
Every parent, as a member of the Hume community, is expected to work in partnership with the School to ensure the safety and welfare of others. To facilitate a safe carpark, we have developed detailed ‘Traffic Safety Rules’, which are readily available on our website. As we continue to grow, and the volume of traffic increases across our campuses, I ask all drivers to please take care of yourselves and our students in our collective endeavour.
I thank you very much for your support.
