Time at Shine - Year 4 Ingenuities
The Shine program has continued to flourish throughout remote teaching and learning. Two of our Year 4 Shine students have written a reflection on their experiences this year.
Ingenuities is a wonderful learning experience for the students involved in the gifted and talented program, Shine.
At first, people might think it is regular schoolwork but it’s learning where you are more creative and challenged in different areas of your education. We can put our knowledge to use and participate in what we want to get advanced in. We can solve challenging problems with other people which increases the use of certain skills we do not use every day, such as linguistic skills and intra-personal skills.
It has been a bit of a hectic year for all of us, but we still learned so much from the Ingenuities during these times. Some of the main activities we did this year are:
- Participating in the She Maps competition, mapping the shade at our school.
- We researched successful national and international entrepreneurs and looked at personal attributes that assisted in their success.
- We completed assessments on Howard Gardener’s Multiple Intelligences and found out what areas we are naturally stronger in.
- We worked with the Year 6 Ingenuities students who showed us around the State Library of Victoria website and how we can use this to help us research topics at school.
- We’re really excited about the Illuminate: Next Gen incursion in November.
Overall, these activities have helped us in strengthening our knowledge about different topics and have helped us with our research skills. It was a great experience, and we hope to do it again next year. - Henry 4A and Aryan 4C
