Acknowledgements: Mt Ridley Primary School
I certainly didn’t expect to be opening my final 2021 newsletter article stating that this year has been just as hard, if not more difficult than last year, but I think this is a general consensus that we all feel. The fact that we have managed to carry on largely as normal proves just how resilient and united we are as a community. There is no challenge that we can’t overcome and there is no limit to what we can achieve together.
We enjoy an incredibly strong sense of community in the Primary school. The strength of relationships and mutual respect between students, parents and teachers is always evident. Remote Teaching and Learning reinforced this wonderful partnership and gave us all a greater insight into the obstacles and successes we experienced during this time. Our parents are such a vital part of what happens in our school. Without their willingness, understanding and commitment, it would be a very different story.
In a year of challenges, our Parents and Friends Association (PFA) have worked tirelessly behind the scenes, volunteering their time for the benefit of our students. Lauren Falkiner stepped down as PFA president earlier this year and I wish to acknowledge her efforts and thank her, and the PFA Committee for their wonderful contribution. Mr Paul DeLuca has stepped into the PFA President’s role, and we wish Paul and his committee continued success. The efforts of the PFA are very much appreciated by all our community.
Our Primary Presentation Ceremony on Monday this week provided us with an opportunity to congratulate students for outstanding academic, community and citizenship achievements and farewell our graduating Year 6 students. They leave the Primary school to begin a new and exciting chapter in their lives as they enter their first year of Secondary schooling. They have been outstanding role models and leaders, setting the bar high for the students who will follow in their footsteps. We encourage our graduating students to take advantage of the many opportunities they will be given and to continue to conduct themselves as the fine upstanding community members they have become.
A special thanks to our Primary Captains Joshua Costanzo and Shreya Sewgoolam and Vice Captains, Agam Brar and Neil Rao. They have been exemplary role models and deserve commendation for their reliability, proactive approach, and ability to lead our student body by example. We also thank all our Primary Senators for their commitment to wanting to ‘make a difference’.
To all our students and families, we hope you have had a positive and rewarding year at Hume Anglican Grammar. We look forward to our continued partnership as we work together to provide the best possible learning experiences and community engagement. On behalf of the staff, we wish you a safe and Merry Christmas and a chance to refresh and re-invigorate over the holidays.
