A Term of Celebration
First term has been a full and active one - Parent Evenings, House Swimming, Year 12 Retreat Day, Year 7 Camp, a wide range of trips and visits and of course the colourful Cultural Dress Day. These experiences give our students a wide range of learning opportunities, the depth and breadth of which contribute to a well-rounded education.
I am very pleased to see how well the Year 7 students have settled in and how they are approaching their learning. The transition has, for the majority of students, been seamless and they have certainly grasped with enthusiasm the broad range of opportunities on offer. Similarly, the Year 11 and 12 students are to be commended on their start to the year, with many students providing great leadership in and around the Secondary school and proving themselves to be excellent role models for the younger students.
There has been a great deal to celebrate throughout the term and assemblies have provided many proud moments as we have celebrated the achievements of students in so many areas. The induction of our student leaders, hearing from the 2021 Dux, student speeches for International Women’s Day and the Illuminate NextGen Challenge winners receiving their awards from the Deputy Mayor were all highlights. I was also honoured to present our Aim High Awards in the week just gone. These awards are linked to our values, nominated by staff and recognise students who have strived ‘to achieve their personal best’.
I hope all families have a restful and enjoyable Easter break and I look forward to students returning on Wednesday, 27 April for an equally rewarding Term 2.
