‘Reflections’ is our online profile series which speaks to Senior students at Hume Anglican Grammar, asking them to look back on their time here at our school and also speak about what lies ahead in the future.

Tell us a little bit about your journey in Secondary school?
I believe I can summarise my journey when I say that the friends I’ve made throughout my years at school, the amazing teachers I’ve met, and the wonderful achievements that the school has enabled and encouraged me to do, are the absolute best parts of my Secondary school journey.

When I look back on my time at school, I will remember my friends, teachers, subjects, and extra-curricular activities that have helped shape me into the person I am today and inspired me to aim as high as possible in my educational endeavours.

Throughout Secondary school, I’ve joined clubs, created and facilitated the School’s first programming club, held leadership roles, organised year-level and full school wide events, played sports, acted in plays, and met many incredible people!

This journey has been one of the most precious experiences of my life, and a core element in building me to become who I am today. Thank you to God, all my teachers, my friends, and my family for being right there with me the whole way!

What is your favourite subject and why?
I really love all subjects including Technology, Maths, and Science, but my favourite subject would have to be Science, and Physics in particular because I love seeing and understanding explanations of how the world around us works, and why it works.

What is your fondest memory so far at Hume Anglican Grammar?
It is hard to pick just one favourite memory but if I had to list one, it would be going to spend a full day at Funfields. As it was after our exams, it was exactly what we all needed to unwind from our studies, and it gave me an incredible chance to be with all my friends in my year-level.

How has your time at Hume Anglican Grammar influenced your future pathway decisions?
Hume Anglican Grammar has definitely helped me to both find my passions for technology, art, and science, and to discover how I best apply those passions. Trying out different subjects has helped me find where I can best apply my passions into my studies. These electives led me to digital technology and electronics, where I found that I loved using technology to be creative, design new innovations, and make something great out of small things to help improve the world, and the everyday lives of all people.  

What would you like to do or study once you graduate from Hume Anglican Grammar?
I would like to study Engineering after Secondary school, particularly Mechatronic Engineering, which is a blend of electronics, mechanics, and programming - basically, robotics! It mixes all my favourite things from school and my passions together to allow me to channel my creativity through technology to create techy inventions or solutions that I find fascinating and fun, and also improve the day-to-day lives of people around the world!

If your friends could describe you in one word, what would it be?
Enthusiastic!

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
Jesus.

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
My Family.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I love being a jack of all trades and having multiple hobbies and passions. I like being studious, and programming and game designing, but I also love 3D-Modelling and creating digital art, playing sports with friends and in teams, playing chess and videogames, and being active within my school and church communities.
