Staff Profile - Debra Molloy
In this edition of Meet the Team we are speaking with Debra Molloy. Debra began her journey at Hume Anglican Grammar 12 months ago as a Year 4 teacher at our Donnybrook campus and later moved into the role of Head of Teaching and Learning – Primary (Donnybrook).
What Do you Like Most About Working at Hume Anglican Grammar?
The staff – I came to ‘checkout’ the school at a Twilight Discovery Tour before applying. I could not have been more impressed with Rebecca Riley (Assistant Principal Primary - Donnybrook) and the staff involved on the night. Since working here though, I am very blessed to be involved with such an incredible group of students.
Can You Tell Us About a Project You Are Currently Working On?
This year at the Donnybrook and Kalkallo campuses I have been trying to find innovative ways to implement a Planning Day at the end of each term for staff.
With help from the other Heads of Curriculum and staff we have since been able to run this initiative (successfully) and are now exploring even more options for future sessions.
Who Has Had the Biggest Impact on Your Career and Why?
My parents – my mother was a Primary School Teacher and my father a Secondary School Teacher. I still run into people that compliment one or both of them and say how they changed their life. I wanted to change lives too!
Fast Four:
If Your Friends Could Describe You in One Word, What Would it Be?
Passionate.
If You Could Have Dinner with Anyone, Dead or Alive, Who Would It Be?
We’re recently empty nesters, so I’d have to say my family.
Favourite Travel Spot?
Inverloch – we just love the beach!
What is One Thing Most People Don’t Know About You?
I completed my bachelor’s degree in Accounting because I wanted to be rich…whoops…I think I’ve only just finished paying for my 2 Degrees.
