Student Wellbeing - Mt Ridley
No doubt you have heard many times before that student wellbeing is at the core of everything we do. Put simply, when students are happy and fulfilled, everything falls into place. We strive to make our school a safe and supportive place and provide many opportunities for students to explore elements of their wellbeing so that they understand what it means to be a member of our community.
This week, David Vinegrad, well-known expert in the area of behaviour management – Strategies that support Positive Relationships and Restorative Practice, spent time with our staff to help us fine tune our Student Wellbeing Programs. David worked with our Wellbeing leaders and facilitated a whole Primary staff workshop to assist in further developing a supportive and caring environment based on strengthening relationships. We look forward to further defining what relationships look like in the Primary school and the explicit teaching of the language surrounding relationships for learning.
A recent Primary Wellbeing activity involved all students decorating a garden rock with a positive message or decoration. The rocks have now been placed around an established tree in the Primary school and we hope this remains a permanent reminder to all about the power and importance of wellbeing at our school.
We look forward to updating you on future wellbeing initiatives as we remain focussed on providing a safe and nurturing environment.
