Year 2 Donnybrook
Prior to Remote Teaching and Learning, Year 2 students at our Donnybrook campus attended Bundoora Park Farm Heritage Centre. In line with our HASS unit ‘Now and Then’, the Years 2 students wanted to inquire into what life was like 100 years ago. The first part was looking at the changes to communication where students used old printing stamps to create messages. We then visited an old house and, to the delight of the students, took part in some household chores. This led to visiting an old school classroom, where the students took a lesson that was similar to what it was like 100 years ago. As this was a look at the post-settlement time, the farm created an experience that looked at what life was like pre-settlement for the Wurundjeri people. We looked at Australian animals and took part in a small dance which the students and teachers enjoyed. Here are few student responses about the trip.
